*Sunday’s Devotion

But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. (Luke 21:34 NKJV)

LUKE 21 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought For The Week: This world is full of distractions and temptations that can easily lead us away from our faith. In this text Jesus warns his disciples to be watchful and careful, lest they are consumed by the cares of this life, and the Day of Judgement suddenly comes upon them.

As believers we must take heed to His words and strive to live a life of watchfulness and faithfulness. Because it is so easy to be overwhelmed by the worries and cares of this world. We must strive to maintain our focus that should always be on God and His will for our lives. Which requires discipline and self-control. One way to do this is by remaining diligent in guarding our hearts and minds against anything that may distract us from our faith. We must look past those moments of temptation and look to the Author and Finisher of our faith. Another way to cultivate watchfulness is through prayer and meditation. Thereby, setting aside time each day to connect to God in quiet reflection, we can calm our minds and center ourselves on His will.

Lastly, we must be mindful of the relationships and the influences they may have on us. Surrounding ourselves with like-minded believers who enourage and support us on our spiritual journey is of utmost importance. And circumspectly we should avoid those who may lead us away from our faith or negatively impact our walk with Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to live a watchful and faithful life. May we be diligent in guarding our hearts and minds against anything that will distract us from You. Please teach us to cultivate this watchfulness through prayer and meditation, and to be mindful of the influence of our relationships. Help us to align our lives with Your will and be prepared for your return. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
