And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42 NKJV)
LUKE 10 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: In the above text, we see the two sisters approaching Jesus from two different perspectives. Mary was sitting at His feet, feeding on His teaching, while Martha was anxious and frustrated because she felt like Mary wasn’t doing anything to help her. Notice Jesus answered Martha’s frustration, saying, “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
How often do we find ourselves in Martha’s shoes—fretting about all the things we have to do while missing out on the most important thing of all. We get so distracted in worry about our jobs, families, finances, and other things that we forget to spend time with God. We should follow Mary’s example and choose the better part, the one thing that really matters—seeking Jesus first and spending time with Him. When we take the time to sit at Jesus’ feet, we are reminded of what is truly important in life. We begin to walk in faith, not fear and worry.
So let us choose the better part each day, and make spending time with Jesus our top priority. Then we can lay aside every incumbrance that so easily distracts us. (Hebrews 12:1 NKJV)
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to choose the better part, to prioritize spending time with You each day. May we not be weighed down by our worries and cares, but instead find rest and peace in Your presence. Strengthen our faith, renew our minds, and help us gain a new perspective on our daily challenges. Thank You for loving us and caring for us, and for reminding us of what truly matters in life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
