“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men.” — Psalm 115:16 (NKJV)
PSALM 115 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: It is easy to feel small and insignificant in such a massive universe. We look up at the heavens and recognize the sheer majesty and ownership of God—He is the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Ruler of all that is unseen. Yet, this verse offers an astonishing truth: God has entrusted the earth to us.
We are not merely passing through a chaotic world; we are its stewards. While God reigns over the heavens, He has given humanity the responsibility to cultivate, manage, and reflect His glory on earth. This isn’t just about environmental stewardship; it’s about operating in His authority to bring peace, truth, and righteousness into our homes, workplaces, and communities.
However, this is not a “hands-off” deal for God. We are called to manage the earth in a way that honors its Owner. We are His ambassadors, holding the world on lease until He returns.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the trust You have placed in humanity by giving us the earth to live in and manage. Forgive me for the times I have failed to manage my corner of the world well. Help me to use my time, talents, and treasure to bring glory to Your name. Teach me to walk in Your authority and to represent You well today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
