As this Polar vortex continues to grip our nation, my heart is with all of us this morning…
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of concern and compassion for all those enduring this unprecedented cold front that stretches from the Gulf Coast to New England — from communities unused to winter’s sting to those well-versed in its challenges. We lift up every person facing freezing temperatures, dangerous conditions, power outages, travel disruptions, and hardship during this time. Lord, please be with families where unusual cold has touched places unaccustomed to such a deep chill. Comfort those who are struggling to stay warm, protect vulnerable populations, and provide for the needs of those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected.
We pray strength for first responders, utility crews, and volunteers who work tirelessly to restore power, open warming shelters, deliver supplies, and save lives. Grant them safety, endurance, and wisdom in every decision they make.
Lord, comfort those who have lost loved ones or are grieving storm-related tragedies. Bring peace where fear and uncertainty linger, and remind every heart that they are not alone in this cold. Draw communities together in acts of kindness, generosity, and mutual care. We ask for Your protection over children, the elderly, the unhoused, the sick, and all who are most at risk. Guide leaders and weather officials with clarity in planning and communication so that lives may be safeguarded and hope sustained. Lord, please send Your warmth of presence into every home and heart. Renew strength where it is worn, provide relief where it is needed most, and bless us all with resilience and compassion through this season of extreme cold. In Your name we pray, Amen.
