“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1 NKJV)

ISAIAH 53 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought For The Week: We are constantly bombarded with reports. The news tells us the state of the world; our bank accounts report our financial standing; our bodies report our health. Sometimes, these reports bring fear, anxiety, or feelings of inadequacy. But in Isaiah 53:1, the prophet asks a haunting, rhetorical question: “Who has believed our report?”

This “report” isn’t just information; it is the Gospel—the announcement of God’s plan for redemption through a suffering servant. It is the message that God’s strength, His “arm,” was revealed not through a worldly show of power, but through the humility and ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The irony of the cross is that the Savior appeared as a “root out of dry ground” with no beauty to desire (Isaiah 53:2). To the world, the story of a crucified King seemed like foolishness or failure. Yet, it was God’s power unto salvation.

Often, we, like those in Isaiah’s day, struggle to believe the report of the Lord. We prefer to trust in what we can see, control, or achieve on our own. But the message of today’s text invites us to abandon our reliance on human strength and trust in the finished work of Jesus.

Whose report will you believe today? The world’s report of despair, or the Lord’s report of redemption?

Prayer: Lord, I believe Your report. Forgive me for the times I have looked to my own strength or the world’s report rather than to Your salvation. I ask that You reveal Your “arm”—Your saving power—in my life today. Help me to trust in the finished work of Jesus and to walk in the freedom, peace, and healing that He purchased for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)
