“I was looking for someone doing good who didn’t expect anything in return…”
A gungho news reporter finds more than just the “who” while chasing a mysterious donor whose tall slender hooded pic is only known as “The Samaritan”. This tall slenderly hooded individual is leaving bags of cash on peoples’ porches around New York. And what is stumping this news reporter and her boss David (Mark Camacho) is why? Since most news always has a negative spin on it, the Channel 12 news agency wants to find the truth in hopes of a positive one.
And, Kate Bradley (Tiya Sircar), this great reporter who is always at the scene of danger; has found herself dangerously close to the true identity of the Good Samaritan. But has a lot of stories to unravel before being shocked as to who and why. Why would someone randomly place $100,000 bags of money with the number 8 on them around the city of New York? Is this a stunt to draw free publicity or to draw mankind into a cycle of goodness for the hopeless? And what does a fireman (Chad Connell) have to do with all of this?
In my opinion, Good Sam did not fall short at all in what it was trying to purvey. If anything, it should fall into the laps of us all as a reminder that today, even in the 21st Century; it is still better to give than to receive.
This film is a Netflix Original based on Dete Meserve’s book of the same name. The movie Good Sam, is a great whodunit film. Even though the person responsible for this movement’s contagious cause does it for the saddest of reasons. Good Sam is a great film in the sense that it remains true to its core values without being all over the place. It centers on the theme which is hope and love. And nowadays, we all could use a heaping helping of those things.
Released in May 2019, this movie is 89 minutes and rated PG.
We give Good Sam
