It is about 4:04 am on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. The ambulance with my husband in it left about an hour and a half ago. Bobbie had another seizure—his third this year.
As I began typing my “On This Day” post, I was reading a prayer that Peter Marshall, a Senate Chaplain, prayed. The first thing I noticed was even though this prayer was prayed many years ago, it was so fitting for right now. And although I’d previously prayed for my husband, this prayer compelled me to pray again. This time it felt as though something were pushing me.
This is a very powerful prayer, for it cuts to the very heart of the matter. I hope in some way this prayer will encourage you, as it did me…
God of our fathers and our God, give us the faith to believe in the ultimate triumph of righteousness, no matter how dark and uncertain are the skies of today.
We pray for the bifocals of faith—that see the despair and the need of the hour but also see, further on, the patience of our God working out his plan in the world he has made.
So help thy servants to interpret for our time the meaning of the motto inscribed on our coins. Make our faith honest by helping us this day to do one thing because thou hast said, “Do it,” or to abstain because thou hast said, “Thou shalt not.”
How can we say we believe in thee, or even want to believe in thee, when we do not anything thou dost tell us? May our faith be seen in our works. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.*

A walking miracle---her spiritual journey began at seven years old, when she was baptized by the late, Pastor K.L. Moore, Jr., of the First Baptist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky, her birthplace. Very thankful for her spiritual upbringing which gave her a strong foundation and a respect for the word of God. Which now affords her the opportunity to share His word with others and testify about His saving her from leukemia.
