The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
(Psalm 34:18 NKJV)

Thought for the Week: God is ready to hear and to help. Although,in the course of His providence towards us, during our trials, He may seem far away or afar off. In His Omnipresence, He is near each of us at all times, and is never too far away as to give us aid. But, He is ever near, especially, to those whose hearts are broken and spirits oppressed under the weight of their calamities. He binds them up with the oils of love and mercy then heals their breaches. He is even close to those who acknowledge their sins and truly repent. God sees these through His eyes of mercy and grace. Neither does He overlook or neglect them in their possession of a contrite spirit, They are accepted through faith in Jesus Christ. And God saves them with a perpetual salvation in him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am drained, and I am worn. I feel surmounting pressure from all of the circumstances surrounding me, but I thank You that I am not destroyed and they will not crush me. I am unsure of how this can or will all work out for my good, but I speak to discouragement and despair with a resounding “No” in Jesus’ name. I feel like everything, and everyone is coming against me but Father, I thank You that I never stand alone. Thank You for being with me and sustaining me through it all, both as my friend and as my advocate. Thank You for picking me up every time life, and its hard knocks throw me down. I will rest in You and Your finished work at the cross. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
