“You can’t just add Jesus to your life—You must submit your life to Him.”
Synopsis: A young girl is influenced by her popular Biology professor who teaches that evolution is the answer to the origins of life. Very concerned about his daughter drifting away from the faith, her father tries to do something about it.

Rachel Whitaker’s parents give her a going to college party and while she is packing her father Stephen (Jay Pickett) places a fifty dollar bill in her Bible. When Rachel (Jordan Trovillion) goes off to college she meets Jason (Justin Michael Brandt), a character with some very bad ideas. Her parents wanted to send her to a good Christian college but since Rachel wanted to be a pharmacist she opted to go to a local college where the Biology Professor Kaman (Harry Anderson) asks the age-old question “What came first the chicken or the egg?” As an evolutionist he teaches the chicken came before the egg. Rachel, who is somewhat impressed with the lesson tells a classmate that was something her father would not agree with, but that she found it quite interesting.
Rachel begins questioning her faith thinking that the professor could be right. Dr. Kaman teaches that all complex life forms evolved from simpler life forms over millions of years and that Biblical creationism is not a probable alternative. He is teaching Biology from his point of view not giving his students an option to choose only to accept.

When Rachel comes home for a visit, her father notices her whole attitude has changed. And on the way to church, he grabs Rachel’s bible and notices that fifty dollar bill is still in it. He discusses his concerns with the pastor. When Jason and his wife Kimberly (Sarab Kamoo) go to visit Rachel he decides to stop by Professor Kaman’s office to express his concerns about his methods of teaching and in the process is tricked into a public debate—Which infuriates Rachel.
The only true friend she has is Evan Carlson (Chandler Macocha) who tried to warn her about the professor but the more they discuss the issue the more they bump heads. Evan meets Rachel’s father and tries to encourage him as he prepares for this debate by telling him people are praying for him and about another professor that used to teach Biology, Professor Portland (Clarence Gilyard Jr.) who Kaman got fired, that could possibly help him with this debate. But Portland turns Jason down cold.
Rachel is so embarrassed by this upcoming debate that she keeps trying to get her father to back out of it. Yet Evan is trying to make her see, through her anger, that her father loves her and is standing for his own faith in Christ as should she. The head of the Journalism Department of the college is getting all types of publicity for this public debate siding with the professor thinking he will win.
Will Rachel change her mind about God? Will Professor Kaman win the debate? You will just have to watch the movie to find out.

We give A Matter of Faith
With the Dove Faith Friendly Seal, A Matter of Faith approaches a long-standing controversial topic—Creationism vs. Evolution head-on. The storyline is also woven with other decisions that young women face. This movie is inevitably about the choices we should have and the choices we can make. This is a quality film with solid acting and there is a surprise crescendo that you won’t even see coming. I remember the day my son came home from high school and said he no longer believed in God because his science teacher was teaching evolution in class. Although he was raised and baptized in the church. I remember how it made me feel and that was my preface for watching this film when I read the synopsis. But I am still thoroughly convinced that when you raise up a child in the way he should go they may veer off but will come back to that right path again.
