“For the first time in a long time, I have hope!”
Synopsis: With his sister suffering from a serious disease, a young boy tries to get God’s attention by answering the prayers of his fellow church members.

Because of her daughter’s terminal sickness, Karen (Denise Richards) has utterly given up on the idea of going to church but insists her son Wesley (Grant Davidson) goes. He’s a little late but makes it just as the congregation is concluding a hymn. At the invitation of Pastor Conlin (Carey Scott), members are asked to come up to the altar to pray—when Wesley kneels at the altar he stays there a little longer than the pastor would like so he pats him on his back and tells him to put his prayer request in the prayer box and let God do His job.
After service, Wesley is about to leave when he is stopped by Billy Wells (Reginald VelJohnson) who says he knows he was interrupted from his prayer time and insists that he comes to the church potluck where he receives a ribbon for the best chicken casserole that was prepared by Billy’s wife Mabel (Sharon Bishop) who wasn’t too please with the outcome, but did accept Wesley’s apology.
In all of the commotion, Wesley left his jacket in the sanctuary and when he goes back to retrieve it—he sees the pastor throwing all of the prayer requests from the prayer box into the trash. After the pastor leaves he takes them out to look at them.
After visiting his sister Mallory at the hospital, Wesley promises her that he will make God notice her. In the process of trying to figure out how he is going to execute this promise, he asks Pastor Conlin for a job working around the church. At first, the pastor says no, he had to let the maintenance man go because the church didn’t have it in the budget. But when Wesley suggests how he thinks the congregation would feel if they knew Pastor Conlin threw their prayer requests in the trash—the pastor has a change of heart and gives him a job cleaning the church. In the process of cleaning the church, he takes the prayer requests out of the prayer box and starts answering them in hopes of getting God’s attention for Mallory so that He would see and heal her.
Will Mallory be saved? Will Wesley’s secret be found out? Will these acts of kindness give the congregation hope? You will just have to watch the movie to find out.
