I met a young man yesterday that spoke these words to me and inspired this poem…

I just want to help somebody,
To ease their burden, make them free,
To lend a hand, a listening ear,
To wipe away their every tear.

I want to be a source of light,
In someone’s darkness, make it bright,
To offer kindness, love, and care,
To show them that I’ll always be there.

I want to be a friend in need,
To plant a seed of hope and feed,
To be a beacon in the storm,
To keep them safe, keep them warm.

I just want to help somebody,
To make a difference, big or small,
To be there for them through it all,
To answer when they call.
