The prophet Isaiah said, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isaiah 64:6 KJV) Simply put, Since we are flawed and sinful, any attempt at self-righteousness will also be flawed and sinful. The standard set before us is perfection, and as sinners, we fall short of that. Any righteousness we claim will be inadequate, appearing as filthy rags in His eyes. Thanks be to God we are covered in the blood of the Lamb.

So as we step into 2025 we all should desire to be better versions of ourselves so that the Jesus in us can grow exponentially. Let’s pray…

Dear God: I am aware that I have many flaws. Please help me become a better person. Remind me to treat everyone with the same respect and love that You show to all of us. Keep my heart humble, Lord, reminding me that I am not better than others, but that we are all equally loved by You. Clear away the negativity and selfishness me, and remind me to practice what I preach. I want to be more like You, speading light and positivity wherever I go. Though I may never be perfect, I trust that with Your guidance, I can keep growing every day. In Jesus name, amen.
