Welcome June!

Well, goodbye May—Hello June! In celebration of this first day of this new month, let us celebrate Global Day of Parents. It is celebrated around the world to honor parental units around the world. Being a parent is one of the most universal experiences.

It is a scorcher down here in the Sunshine State. Although we have many attractions here, such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, Legoland Florida Resort, and the infamous Clearwater Beach, bring plenty of suntan oil, sunglasses, and wide-brim hats!

There are exactly 169 June observations on the calendar. You can’t make them all, so you are going to have to make some careful choices. Here are just a few… African-American Music Appreciation MonthAlzheimer’s and Brain Awareness MonthCaribbean-American Heritage MonthChild Vision Awareness MonthNational Men’s Health MonthNational PTSD Awareness MonthNational Rose MonthProfessional Wellness MonthRebuild Your Life Month, and Sports America Kids Month. For the complete list, please visit our rose garden.

Today is also the last day of Erev Shavuot. Erev Shavuot is a Jewish holiday celebrated on the night before the sixth day of the Hebrew month of Sivan and generally falls between May 15 and June 14 on the Gregorian calendar and directly translates to “Eve of the Feast of Weeks.” This year it falls on June.  Music lovers will be celebrating Prince’s Birthday on June 7th and Global Beatles Day on June 25th.

Let us always remember D-Day, June 6th, and the Army’s Birthday on June 14th. We’ve got to celebrate Juneteenth on June 19th. We must never forget the Day of Pentecost, known as Holy Spirit Monday, June 5th. Finally, all you procrastinators, don’t wait until the last minute to do your Father’s Day shopping.

A little June Trivia. In 2009, June was the 662 most popular name for girls in the USA.

Heavenly Father,

As we enter the month of June, we thank you for your endless love and grace. We ask for your guidance and wisdom as we face the challenges and opportunities that this month may bring.

We pray for peace and tranquility in our homes and communities, and for your protection over our loved ones. We also ask for your healing in every area of our lives, both physical and emotional.

May this month be a time of growth and deeper faith, as we seek your presence and guidance in all we do. We ask for your blessings to be upon us and our families, and we trust in your loving care. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
