Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 KJV)
How are you training your child?
PROVERBS 22 IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Thought For The Week: The above scripture is familiar to many of us. However, it is also a poignant reminder of the importance of raising our children in the admonition of God. As parents, we have the crucial responsibility of teaching our children about the love of God, His commandments, and His plan for their lives.
It is imperative to understand that we cannot control our children’s choices; they have their own free will. But when we raise them according to God’s ways, it increases the chances that they will continue to walk with Him as they grow older. Ultimately, our children have to decide for themselves whether or not to follow Christ, but we can do our part in guiding them towards a life of faith.
This promise of Proverbs 22:6 is that if we train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it. This means that even if our children stray from the path of righteousness, they will always remember the lessons we taught them and eventually return to the one and only Truth.
Prayer: Dear God, we pray for all parents who are raising children in Your ways. Please give them the strength, wisdom, and guidance to teach their children about Your love and grace. May our children grow up with a strong faith that will guide them throughout their lives. And may we be good role models, showing them what it truly means to follow You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
