Today, some of us are free from the 8-to-5 and are looking forward to a long weekend. Thank you, Lord! Then many others are not so fortunate…
With all the upheaval in our country today, I know some folks are asking, “What do I have to celebrate?”

The birth of this nation was established by a group of politicians who were genuinely concerned not only about the present condition of the country and its people but also about the trajectory it would take in the future. So they wrote the Constitution of the United States.
Nevertheless, I read a scripture in the Holy Bible that says, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 NKJV)
Notice it reads “and the government shall be upon his shoulder”— And I’m in agreement with the Psalmist who wrote…Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (Psalm 20:7 NKJV)

Or in the prophetic words of George Washington. . . “I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party,
Generally.— This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissention, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”
So, this July 4th, I say to America—“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

There is still hope despite the darkness that many may see. The same God who parted the Red Sea, the same God who was in the fire with the Three Hebrew Boys (Daniel 3:13-25 NKJV), the same God who kept Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:16-28 NKJV), the same God who gave life to dry bones in a valley (Ezekiel 37:1-14 NKJV), the same God who rose Jesus from the dead (Luke 24 NKJV), can still do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask or think today! For what He carries on His shoulders is never too heavy for the Almighty!
May the God of all grace continue to bless you, your families, and the United States of America on her 249th birthday!
