Happy Independence Day!

Happy 250th Birthday, America! And Happy Fourth of July to all my wonderful readers!

This year, Independence Day arrives during a time when our nation feels more divided than many of us would like. No matter where we stand politically, today is an opportunity to remember the ideals that have guided America since its founding: freedom, opportunity, perseverance, and hope. While we may not always agree on the path forward, we can still share a love for our country and a desire to leave it better for future generations.

The Fourth of July is more than fireworks, parades, and backyard barbecues. It’s a reminder that the American story has always been one of growth, resilience, and the belief that we can overcome challenges together. My prayer is that we will truly listen to one another with respect, celebrate our shared values, and never lose sight of the importance of kindness and community.

As you gather with family and friends today, take a moment to appreciate the many blessings on this day: laughter, good food, cherished traditions, and the people who make every day brighter.

Today is also especially meaningful for our family because we’re celebrating my grandson Canon’s 7th birthday! Canon, may your year ahead be filled with happiness, adventure, good health, and dreams come true. Seeing you grow is one of life’s greatest joys, and I couldn’t be prouder of the wonderful young person you are becoming.

To all of you, thank you for being part of this community and for sharing this journey with me. I wish you a safe, joyful, and memorable Fourth of July filled with love, gratitude, and hope for brighter days ahead.

Happy Independence Day—and Happy Birthday, Canon! Nana loves you so much!

May the God of all grace and mercy forever shine His perfect love and protection over our country, as He alone is the only One who knows our future. In Jesus’ name, amen.
