Memorable Moments on July 25th

Happy Saturday on this beautiful July 25, 2026 morning. Listening to some of my favorite tunes at 5:19 in the morning, going back down Memory Lane to when Dad took us to Riverview Park, or when we took school trips to Kings Island, and we rode the carousel along with that scary rollercoaster and other rides. Today is Carousel Day and National Merry-Go-Round Day, which I didn’t even know existed until today. Isn’t it funny how we miss some things in life because our focus is in another direction?

Speaking of directions, let me point you to the remaining 22 celebrations for today, which include: Annexation of Guanacaste Day, Culinarians Day, Commemoration of the Assault on Moncada, Fiesta de Santiago (Nicaragua), Guanacaste Day, Health and Happiness with Hypnosis Day, Houston Day, International Decora Day, International Red Shoe Day, National Day of the Cowboy, and National Hire a Veteran Day. For the complete list, taste our ice cream sundae.

While enjoying those cooling desserts, everybody is trying to stay cool at all the different water parks and beaches. Let’s keep safety at the forefront of our minds. Not only is today National Drowning Prevention Day, but it is also World Drowning Prevention Day, which is an annual global event held every July 25 to raise awareness about water safety, highlight the impact of drowning on families, and share life-saving solutions. Established by a United Nations General Assembly resolution, it addresses a major public health crisis that claims over 300,000 lives each year

On a sombre note, today is also the day to recognize the Feast of St. James, which is celebrated annually on July 25 in Western Christianity to honor James the Greater, one of Jesus’s first disciples and the first apostle to be martyred. The Son of Zebedee, brother of John the Evangelist, and a fisherman called by Jesus from the Sea of Galilee. Called “Son of Thunder” by Jesus because of his fiery and zealous nature. Was blessed to witness major events like the Transfiguration and Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was martyred around 44 AD in Jerusalem under King Herod Agrippa.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of joy, laughter, and time with loved ones. Watch over everyone enjoying rides, beaches, and water today. Grant us wisdom to make safe choices, protect every family from harm, and help us keep our eyes fixed on You in every direction of life. Thank You for the faithful example of St. James, and strengthen us to follow Christ with courage and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
