I Will Bring Him Home

Guest Poet Ralph Woodbury

I took up my cross, with fear no one could tell.
I was a common thief, headed straight for hell.
I thought all hope was gone; I had no strength to try.
No one ever wanted me, since my momma died.
I asked him there for mercy, and I could hear a song.
Momma she was singing, my son it won’t be long.
I found myself upon a street, and I could hear a sound.
Chains called Paradise were falling to the ground.
He preached those captives on their feet and momma she did sing.
We’re heading straight for heaven, and Jesus is the King.
When you think all hope is gone and you have no strength to try.
Whom the Son sets free, He says will never die.
Momma said she prayed to Him; my son, he dies alone.
Jesus said,”Fear not, my child, for I will bring him home.”

We’d like to thank Mr. Woodbury for this beautiful and inspirational poem. You will find some of Mr. Woodbury’s work on the Christian Poetry Corner.
