While perusing composition notebooks and journals came across this piece. March 26, 2022. Circa my husband’s passing…

I was able to get most of my website posts done throughout the day, while taking care of Bobby. doing laundry, and sorting out my macrame yarn. Praying and believing God to help me with time management. Haven’t started on my new book “The In-Between Time” yet. The outline’s been done for months. Just need some motivation fire.

It’s hard when I haven’t had much sleep in the last three days. Bob’s overnight antics are out of control. Alzheimer’s is no joke, and it’s more than a job. Lord knows I pray for all those in these shoes. Thank God for His strength.

Even in the middle of this, my creative side can only be captured where organization and peace reside. (Grace is a gift from God. It takes the grace of faith to truly believe in Him.) It’s as if those two factors are my cocoon, and my caterpillar thoughts begin to evolve into a butterfly’s mentality, where I begin soaring creatively using all the color palettes of my writing pen.

Sometimes God will amaze me and download a poem into my mind while I’m cooking, and then I’ll grab my trusty cellphone and dictate it. Two of my last three poems, “Sacred Time” and “A Quiet Hallelujah,” were written by His gift.

The one thing writing has taught me is that when we are free-writing, the only constraints we have are our own thoughts when we pick up that paper and pen. No matter how demanding our schedules may be. Now you are in a sword fight with your mind, hoping to come out unscathed with some revelation for your reading audience that will give them a drop of inspiration from your blood, sweat, and tears, that will help them on their life’s journey.
