Rhemalogy

Part 1

As I was listening to a podcast this morning it dawned on me…The greatest fight you will ever fight is not with your mate, not with your parents, not with a sibling, not with your best friend, not with a teacher, not with a coworker or boss, and not even with the government. But the greatest battle you will ever fight in your life is with yourself for your eternal salvation!

I propose to you that one of the most revelatory statements the Apostle Paul ever made was…

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.  I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. (Romans 7:19-25 NKJV)

The profundity of this text touches on our human frailties as they relate to some of our wrestlings which are circular in battle. What do I mean? Isn’t there some weakness that no matter how hard you pray, fast, and try to overcome, just seems to always be ever-present? And every time you say you’re not going to succumb to it you do?

On this path, I have come to realize that some things …

1. God does instantaneously. Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. (Matthew 15:28 NKJV)
2. Others He allows us to walk out to reinforce our faith. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (I Peter 5:10 NKJV)
3. And then like the Apostle Paul He doesn’t remove it at all. But tells us emphatically that His grace is sufficient. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”(2 Corinthians 12:9a NKJV) Perhaps this is His way of keeping us humble lest we fall into pride.

Can you reflect on these instances as they correlate to your life? I can.
