Save For The Grace Of God There Go I

As I was typing a post for the Powerful Prayer section God reminded me of a time when I worked as an estimator for a paint company and had to pick up a set of blueprints from a general contractor. The contractor’s company was located right across the street from the neighborhood Salvation Army. When turning onto the side street to get into the company’s parking lot I noticed people sleeping on the sidewalk with pillows and one in a lawn chair. Then a crystal clear voice spoke to me and said, “The only thing separating you from them is My grace.”

Immediately a familiar phrase of mine “Save for the grace of God there go I” was set before me. There is something about the word grace, the unmerited gift from God. Here one should be humbled enough to realize the only thing separating us from some of the misfortunes in which we see others is nothing but the grace of God. The Apostle Paul said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV) In other words, it was the Apostle’s recognition that everything that made him who he was specifically prepared him to fulfill his purpose by the grace of God.

… it’s this feeling that sometimes the blessings God has given us…

In talking with my daughter Tanisha yesterday we were on this same subject we agreed that as children of God, we really need to take this subject matter to heart. Even deep within myself, it’s this feeling that sometimes the blessings God has given us we take so much for granted without even a thought of how precious His grace and mercy truly are. And again I submit to you that it is all in one’s perspective.

Although Bobbie has gone on to be with the Lord I still rise up in the morning thanking God for another day and His grace and mercy. Yes, I miss my husband dearly and I am still trying to find my way through the haze of tearful moments. While yet having to uphold the blood-stained banner of our Lord when the attacks of the enemy come against my mind. But just like David…“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:1a and 8 NKJV) This is my resolve.

…Jesus Christ who had legions of angels at his command…

All of our help no matter what the battle, win, lose or draw is in the name of the Lord. That precious gift of grace is in the name of the Lord. Not in our name, our gifts, or our talents for us to be boastful or full of unmitigated pride. But giving us a distinct and clear incite into the humility of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who had legions of angels at his command yet walked humbly and just amongst men for the sake of the Glory of God. (John 17:1-5 NKJV) If we are truly children of God then Jesus’ example we would sincerely follow at this hour with the constant remembrance…

For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 4:15)

The next time you see someone homeless I pray you remember this post.

May the Blessings of the LORD be with you today and always. Thank you for your continued readership and support. Until next Sunday…Blessings and Peace!
