Are You One Of The Seven Thousand?

Part I

While pondering what the subject for this post might be this week a question was posed to me — “Are you one of the 7,000? Instantly I was reminded of the prophet Elijah who was running from Jezebel. She’d sent a message promising to kill him (I King 19:1-3 NKJV) because he’d destroyed her Baal prophets. (I Kings 18:40 NKJV)

The spirit of fear gave Elijah a temporary case of amnesia. Why? Because before he ever got that message from Jezebel he’d call down fire from heaven turning the people’s hearts back to God from the Baal worship instituted by Jezebel. For surely God was with Elijah. Is it not written:  And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!” (I Kings 18:36-39 NKJV)

Sometimes the things we’ve prayed for or asked God have already been granted…

Fear is the great illusionist. An illusion is defined as a thing that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. Therefore Jezebel’s message was nothing more than an empty threat because God had already honored Elijah’s request. Which was somehow quickly erased by the great illusionist. That’s how the enemy deals with us—he fills our minds with empty threats because God has already answered our prayers. Sometimes the things we’ve prayed for or asked God have already been granted—we’re standing in the midst of an answered prayer and instead of walking in faith we find ourselves running in fear because we are walking in the flesh and not in the spirit. Remember the definition said “wrongly perceived or interpreted by the senses. But the word says that we who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24 NKJV)—thereby being able to discern what is of God and what is not. (Malachi 3:18 NKJV) Moreover, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7-9 NKJV)

We now find Elijah deep in the wilderness having a meltdown; praying to die — comparing himself to his forefather’s mistakes. (I Kings 19:4 NKJV) Then after being fed by an angel not once but twice, he goes to Horeb the mountain of God where he finds a cave and goes to sleep (1 Kings 19:5-8 NKJV)….

Stay tuned for the conclusion next week…May the Blessings of the LORD be with you today and always. Thank you for your continued readership and support. Until next Sunday…Blessings and Peace!
