Last Sunday morning I wanted to pull my car into the garage but couldn’t find the car keys. Looked all over the house, through my purse, and everywhere I thought they could not be lost but could not find them anywhere. Had not reached panic mode yet because I said to myself “There is no way you’ve lost those car keys that’s something you just would not do” and something said—“Go check the front door.” Sure enough there the keys were in the front door. “Thank You, Lord.” was my reply. Because those keys had been in the front door all night! Do you realize the implications here?

“Maybe you left them in the car”

It occurred to me that I’d done this at least three times. Then I got a flashback of over 20 years ago while working for the State of Florida somehow I’d managed to leave my keys on the roof of the car in a parking lot where all sorts of people walk through all day long. And the funny part is they’d had to have been sitting there for at least 4 hours because I didn’t discover them missing until lunchtime. And after exhausting all possible locations something said “Maybe you left them in the car” which kinda made me nervous. But when I went to the car— to my surprise there the car keys were—right on the roof where I left them.

After pulling the car in the garage while standing in the kitchen God spoke to me and posed a question. “If I watched over you then why can’t you trust me to watch over you now?” I suppose the real question was “Are you ever going to trust Me?” Then all of the situations in my life where I saw God’s hand came before my face…Our eldest son got into some trouble with a group of bad boys when he was about 12 years old and the arresting officer showed him favor because he said he could tell he didn’t belong with that bunch. He saved our baby boy’s life when he was hit by a moving truck that should’ve crushed his head, our baby girl from numerous ER visits, and our eldest son flat-lined with a second heart attack, but God brought him back. During what was supposed to be minor surgery my mother flatlined but He brought her back. One of our daughters was almost poisoned by the wrong prescribed medication, but He intervened with divine wisdom and she was saved. Bobbie had sepsis twice and walked away. When diagnosed with leukemia they gave me a 20% chance but God said “This sickness is not unto death.” Then posed another question—“Whose report will you believe?” That was 16 years ago. In 2022 they found a large growth in my colon—took out 6 inches of my colon and when the biopsy came back the doctor said that it was not cancer—they got it just before it turned. But the irony is before I ever even saw a doctor God already told me that it was not cancer. Should I say more?

…we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

The word teaches us that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. (Revelations 12:11 NKJV) But to have that testimony we must be like children. Is it not written…“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3 NKJV)

God does not want a why? He just wants a nevertheless. You see children believe exactly what an adult tells them because they walk in the realm of innocence. Not in pride but confidence because they believe if their parents told them such and such they would do such and such. Therefore, they already have a nevertheless attitude. “Nevertheless whatever mom or dad said they are going to do that’s what I can expect them to do.” Should we not feel the same way about God? How many times must He prove himself?

Nevertheless, what are your expectations? Do you really know the God you serve? What obstacles has He brought you through in your life? Think about it. I know I have!
