One day this past week around the afternoon time the song We Are Blessed by Fred Hammond resonated in my spirit. I was reflecting on how, in my youth, how blessed I was because of the love that was felt in the church.

Specifically, coming from the elders and our beloved Pastor K.L. Moore. He always had an open-door policy—especially for us. We didn’t have to make an appointment through his secretary to see him because he genuinely cared for us. You could feel the love. No matter day or night—if we had questions he was always available for us. And he kept that same spirit on into my adult age—no matter where I was especially studying scriptures he would take out the time and explain them to me. And this heart for God’s people he kept until he went home to be with the Lord.

Immediately my spirit quickened and I heard “Then men did not self-proclaim themselves. They were not appointed by men, they were appointed by God. For the true power and authority of God is not wrapped in titles or degrees but it is wrapped in humility and meekness.—in that you will find love.” For it is written I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? (Jeremiah 23:21-23 KJV)

Sometimes because of flesh, we seem to overlook the fact that Jesus had the authority and power to call down legions of angels (Matthew 26:53 KJV) at any moment in time just by his word! Yet that same WORD, who was from the beginning (John 1:1 KJV) was humble unto death…even to the death of the cross (Philippians 2:7-9 KJV) — That’s love. And He gives us a very important key–-It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63 KJV) Then the Apostle Paul reminds Timothy, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7 KJV) Notice between that power and sound mind there is love?
Three of the most dangerous enemies of a true child of God, especially those who are over God’s people are ignorance, pride, and vanity.
Regarding Ignorance—“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6 KJV) There is a vain knowledge that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
Regarding Pride— Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5)
Regarding Vanity— Solomon declared, “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2 KJV)
In all that you have herein read please remember despite all things that we do in this earth—only in meekness and humility will stand (remain). And in the midst of that meekness and humility—guess what? You will always find love and thank God for how blessed you truly are!
Thank you so much for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace!
