This is a repost from years ago. Here is the re-edited version. I feel that someone needs this encouragement right now. We all do from time to time…

While reading Matthew 20, I came across this text…When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment. Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matt. 17:14-20 NIV)

At this point, my mind reverted to Luke Skywalker, training to be a Jedi Knight. While training, his X-wing starfighter sank deeper into a swamp. In his disgust and discouragement, Luke says, “Oh…we’ll never get it out now.” And Yoda says to him, “So certain are you… Always with you what cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?” “Master moving stones around is one thing, this is totally different.” To which Yoda replies, “No! No different! Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned.” And Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” (Matthew 17:20) We must unlearn what we have learned. Many of us have been raised in this seeing-is-believing philosophy. But faith dictates believing in what you cannot see. And this is where, we oftentimes, trip up. Your present circumstances, no matter how bad, do not dictate your future or the outcome of your life.
Thank you for your continued support and readership. Until next week for the conclusion…Blessings and Peace!

I like the reference to Yoda and that it is only in your mind. It is the battleground that most of us are still learning how to maneuver around. Wonderful post!

Thank you so much for stopping by—that is a good observation. The mind is where all battles are fought and won. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7) Blessings and Peace!
