While listening to my favorite praise and worship music, I was working on my website and needed a quote for the Miscellaneous Minds section. I found this quote on one of those pieces of scrap paper on my desk that read, “When we commit our hearts, He commits His grace, through the breadth of His love.”
That statement describes the central idea in Christianity about the relationship between believers and God. It reflects that when we fully dedicate ourselves to God, He responds with abundant grace, which is shown through His limitless love.
And as I began meditating on this, here is what came to mind…
- Committing our hearts: This indicates complete dedication to God. This includes thoughts, intentions, feelings, and actions. It means trusting and having faith in God above all else. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV) The Bible teaches us that loving the Lord with your whole heart means loving Him with your character, individuality, and conscience. It also means being aware of your sinfulness and dependence on God’s mercy.
- God commits His grace: This emphasizes God’s unearned favor and blessings given to believers. His grace is not deserved or earned through good deeds. It is a gift that inspires a commitment to live for Him. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Through the breadth of His love: This speaks to the vastness of God’s love, which He extends to all creation. This breadth is seen through His care for all creation and His saving love for a fallen world. According to 1 John 4:8, God is love, meaning He constantly gives Himself to others and wants their well-being. His love is the basis of any love displayed.
This scripture implies that the more we surrender and commit to God, the more we experience the depth of His love and grace. This commitment leads us into a closer relationship with God and enables us to reflect His love to others.

When we look in a mirror, we should see less of ourselves and more of Him. So that when others look at us, they don’t see this flesh, but they see our Father who is in heaven. Then truly our lights will shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NKJV)
Let me ask you a question today—Who are you committed to? People will come and go, money will come and go, things of this world will fade away, but one thing is for sure, Heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35 NKJV)
Think about it.
Thank you for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace!
