What Does God Require Of Us? Conclusion

From last week’s lesson we learned the prophet is teaching us by showing the worthlessness of outward observances when the moral precepts are ignored. Is it not written “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6)

The Lord requires so little. Why can we not give him our level best? He gave more than a hundred percent on that cross. He gave all of himself for all of us.

I propose a challenge this week. To do your own personal inspection. Are we really doing what the Lord requires or just going through religious exercises? Are we obeying and walking humbly in the will of God? Or are we just going our own way, as the dice rolls—suffering the consequences of our own decisions? Yet blaming God for those consequences. Perhaps with those decisions some of us have become lost in the Wilderness of Doubt and allowed weariness, defeat, or even bitterness to set in our heart.

Wherever you find yourself—Here are some things to help you on your journey of discovery:

1) Pray as Jesus instructed us. (Matthew 6:5-13)
2) Ask God for wisdom concerning your purpose. (James 1:5)
3) Apply the bible to your daily life. (James 1:22-25)
4) Hurt no man’s person, property, or character. (Matthew 7:12)
5) Show mercy. Help those in need not just on holidays but every day. (2 Samuel 22:26)
6) Do “good” in the moral sense of the word. (James 3:13)
7) No matter your position always walk in humility. (Isaiah 57:15)

This list may seem somewhat overwhelming. But if you take it one step at a time and one day at a time. You will be surprised what you can accomplish. Whatever challenges you face at the moment with whatever result they bring, they teach us valuable lessons. Be patient and strong to overcome the tough episodes and be ready to meet the bright ones. And always remember to thank the Lord for everything you have in life. Now you are no longer standing still, but moving forward knowing what God requires!

Thank you so much for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace!
