The other day, I had a rather expensive unexpected expense—-4 new tires. On the way back home, I stopped for a smoothie, and as I was discussing this issue with the young man behind the counter, I noticed he kept saying “Amen.” He was in agreement that 4 new tires can be a very expensive proposition. And as I came to the conclusion of the matter, I told him, “I guess I should be thankful that I could pay for them because a lot of people are not in a position to do it.” And again, he said, “Amen.”

With a raised eyebrow, I asked him if he really meant what he said, or if he was merely repeating a word that he’d heard. For two reasons—one because Amen means truly, so be it or let it be so, and two because the Holy Spirit had given me a word concerning him. With a strong resolution, the young man told me that if he said it, he meant it.
Whenever we say “Amen”, it means that we are in agreement with whatever is being said and with whoever is saying it. What touched me was that he agreed with me without even knowing who I was. And he was not ashamed to display his resolve as a Christian.

These days, that is a rarity because the corporate machine has set so many policies in place against the discussion of the word of God; much less an amen. His actions amazed and inspired me. It felt as if I’d walked into a Romans 1:16 situation...For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
I then gave him the word that was given to me and asked him to provide me with a piece of paper and a pen. We then exchanged introductions, and I invited him to visit this site as a source of inspiration. Is it not written, Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10 NKJV)
I walked out of the smoothie shop with a stronger and revived hope and vigor and a renewed peace that shifted my thought process to another level—a new mindset. Not only did I get something healthy for my body, but I also received something healthy for my spirit.
Now I understand why we should never judge a book by its cover—why God judges by the heart alone. (I Samuel 16:7 NKJV)
Can I get an Amen?
