You are welcome. Since my husband's passing I'd gotten behind in my movie and book reviews. But if you stick…

Lately, I’ve been feeling a heaviness and emptiness. Like I was on a dead-end street. Somewhere along my path either I took a wrong turn, got bit by a poisonous snake, or lost my faith back at mile marker 576. Regardless, there is an emptiness constantly haunting me. And in this quagmire of my mind resides an ungrateful jester, who rears his ugly head from time to time. Thus lifting my guilty conscious to a new low and giving hypocrisy a status rung. I was fighting to get outside my head when Smokey Robinson did an interview and said, concerning passion for his career, “You have to love it whether you are sick or well, whether you are happy, whether you are sad.” And it hit me like a shot! Do you have a passion for God? Are you truly serving HIm? Do you really love Him no matter how you feel or what your situation is? I’d been asking God for instruction concerning my life’s path. I felt a deep desire to secure my footing. Because the word teaches us that the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD and He delights in his ways. (Psalm 37:23 NKJV)
I must confess, at times I wonder if God delights in my ways. Yes, He knows that we are all sinners saved by grace and He also knows that we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity. But there comes a time when we have to grow up in God…as Paul so eloquently put it “ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” (1 Corinthians 13:11-13 NKJV)
“But God knows my heart.”
But then the question arises…Am I striving to know God the way He knows Me? Sometimes we are so quick to say when justifying an action that is spiritually incorrect. “But God knows my heart.” And that in and of itself should not be spoken so swiftly because although true what does He see in our hearts? For there is also a scripture that reads Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30 NKJV) Notice it says all men everywhere. So that includes all of us. Why? The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 NKJV)

What is the need for repentance? Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, (Acts 3:19-20 NKJV) In other words, When we truly repent and turn to God He throws our sins into a sea of forgetfulness so that we may be refreshed and renewed by His Spirit and the word we heard preached before when preached again–will now touch your hearts and minds giving you a fresh revelation as to the Kingdom of God. That’s why the word teaches us he who has an ear let him hear. Let him hear what? What God is saying to you.
Do you know what He’s saying to you today?
How He speaks to us can come in so many different ways prayer, fasting, the Word, a poem, a song, a line in a book, an interview; etc. Sometimes you have to tell your mind to shut its mouth so that you can hear what God is saying with clarity. “What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch! (Mark 13:37 NIV) Do you know what He’s saying to you today? Are you truly serving HIm? Do you really love Him no matter how you feel or what your situation is? Do you have a passion for Him and His word? Jesus did…That’s why we are never on a dead-end street—just being re-directed to the right path. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 NKJV)
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” (Number 6:24-26 NKJV) Thank you for your continued readership and support. Until next week.….Blessings and Peace!
