You are welcome. Since my husband's passing I'd gotten behind in my movie and book reviews. But if you stick…

The other morning I was making breakfast in my idea laboratory—my good old kitchen. I had already purposed the breakfast menu: pancakes, scrambled egg whites, and beef sausage. We usually eat a lot healthier but every once in a while I throw a cheat or two in. Anyway, when I grabbed the pancake mix, the box was kind of light and I made a mental note to get some the next time I went to the grocers.
When I poured the mix into the bowl it looked like it was barely enough for one person with or without water. I started to throw the box and its contents away, but something said to add water anyway—I did. The more I poured on the griddle the more kept coming. There was more than enough for Bobbie and me. And I thanked God for the increase. My mind immediately went to the Widow at Zarephath…

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me, and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”
So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah. (I Kings 17:8-13 NKJV)
Sometimes in life, our situations may appear to be grim and look like we don’t have enough of what we need. But if we just trust God and obey His word as did the widow—we’ll have more than enough.
If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 1:19-20 NKJV) And it is also written And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 NKJV)

Little miracles like that are so cool. Only God can turn “almost nothing” into “abundance”. ❤️
