We oftentimes hear the saying “no matter how bad you think you have it in life there is always somebody worse off than you.” Not deeming this as a measuring stick for success or failure. But when you stop and think about it…

Do you have a bed to sleep in? Some people don’t — they sleep on floors in cold buildings or even on the ground outside. Do you have a roof over your head? Some people don’t, they are sleeping on city sidewalks in cardboard boxes, tents, or worse? Do you have hot and cold running water? Some people don’t and some in third-world countries are drinking contaminated water right now. Are your children healthy? Some families have children who are sick from all sorts of diseases and illnesses. Are you in good health? Some people aren’t they are plagued with one form of disability or another. Had a vacation recently? A lot of hardworking people have never been on their first—not because they don’t want to take a vacation but because they can’t afford it.
Did you eat dinner last night or breakfast this morning? Some people did not because either they didn’t have food or they gave their plates of food to their children and went hungry.— Although they went to the neighborhood food bank that was empty too. Do you have electricity in your house? Some people’s lights just got cut off and others live by candlelight. Do you have at least one car? I live in a neighborhood where there are at least 2 cars in every driveway. Yet I know of people who either walk, ride bikes, or take multiple buses or the subway just to get to work every day.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that God is with me…
The reason I posed all these questions today was not to make you feel guilty but to really make you think and drive home the fact of how blessed many of us are and sometimes take it for granted without a second thought including yours truly. Yes, I thank God each morning when I am blessed to wake up, whether in pain or not, for His grace and mercy that has been extended to a thousand generations. But recently I have had some come to Jesus moments seeing families in all of those predicaments I just asked you about. Even been in a few of them myself. And believe me, through all that I have seen and been through in my life, thus far, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that God is with me and has truly blessed my family and me!
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Philippians 4:11 KJV)…Thank You, LORD, I won’t complain.
May the Blessings of the LORD be with you today and always. Thank you for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace!
