Will The Real Christian Please Stand Up?
While lying in bed this morning I was watching television and all of a sudden this title hit my spirit like a shot—Will The Real Christian Please Stand Up? What to write next has been permeating my spirit for a while. The Oxford Dictionary defines Christian as an adjective relating to or professing Christianity or its teachings.” the Christian Church” and as a noun a person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Christianity.” a born-again Christian” So now, what is Christianity? The Encyclopedia Britannica defines Christianity as, a major religion stemming from the life, teachings, and death of Jesus of Nazareth (the Christ, or the Anointed One of God) in the 1st century CE.

It would be safe to say that if one claims to be a Christian or a Believer these claims should be predicated on the examples that Jesus of Nazareth lived and displayed. This does not mean brandishing scriptures, and biblical sayings on tee shirts and hats, or just going to church on Sunday or mid-week Bible Study yet not living the examples that Jesus set before us. The disciples did not go about wearing gaudy jewelry and clothing or expecting people to pay them hefty bonuses for a prophetic word or healing nor bow at their feet. Why? because they walked with Jesus—they walked in power and authority because they were taught by the Master and they applied what they learned. (Luke 10:19 NKJV)
Two scriptures come to mind— And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:7-8 NKJV) And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”. (Mark 16:17-18 NKJV)

Notice that second scripture’s stipulation…And these signs will follow those who believe. And then it reads ‘In my name they will cast out demons.” What signs are following you? It’s time for us as children of the Most High to stop walking beneath our God-given gifts and talents and to truly seek after God to find Him in us and the directions He wants us to take. And ask ourselves what type of belief systems do we truly have? Is it not also written – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Take that mustard seed of faith—water it with meditating on God’s word. Then you shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. (Psalm 1:3 NKJV) Then the real Christian in you will be able to stand up!

I grieve for friends who believe in Jesus but mix their faith with foolish traditions of humans who disavow many specific Scriptural instructions.
Fortunately, for ALL of us, Father is abundantly merciful.

Amen. If it had not been for His mercy and grace many of us would not be here today. Amen.
