Are You Stuck In The Valley?

I recently came across a thought-provoking statement: “Stay focused on the positive aspects of where you are and what you are doing.” This reminded me of a powerful scripture: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NKJV)

It struck me that many of us find ourselves trapped in that valley. Instead of concentrating on the positive possibilities ahead, we often fixate on the negative circumstances that surround us. As a result, we spend excessive time lamenting our struggles rather than moving forward through the valley. We end up constructing a tent in our valley of disappointment with all the negative we see in the physical realm, allowing ourselves to be imprisoned by our own thoughts. In doing so, we lose sight of our true identity, identifying more with the grasshoppers our ancestors saw themselves as, rather than embracing who God has declared us to be. (Numbers 13:33 NKJV)

It is important to remember that those who saw themselves as mere grasshoppers never reached the Promised Land. Rather than placing their faith in God and following His guidance, they relied on their own senses and faced destruction. They were considered rebellious. (Numbers 14:37 NKJV)

When we truly embrace the idea that He is the Good Shepherd and we are His flock, we can cultivate the humility and trust necessary to navigate our valleys without faltering. By believing in God’s promises, we can move forward through our challenges, step by step. This way, we will avoid becoming trapped in the valley of disappointment or succumbing to our own limitations. Instead, we will discover that the joy of the Lord is our strength, for He is indeed the Good Shepherd of our souls. (John 10:11 NKJV)

Thank you all so much for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace!

  1. Very good message. I just read that passage this morning about how the spies spread negativity about the promised land and caused the Israelites to focus on their fears instead of God’s promise.
