God Is A Friend

While pulling up to a stop light yesterday evening, as I was listening to “Trust in God” by Elevation Worship when I noticed a small paper taped to the Yield post that read “God is a Friend.” Automatically the song “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” popped into my spirit.

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer

The scripture that comes to mind is… You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. (John 15:14-16 NKJV)

What I took from this meditation was If you trust in God, obey His word, and pray, you will always find Him to be a friend.

What do you think?

Thank you so much for your continued readership and support. Until next week…blessings and peace!

  1. Actually, He is a friend, as I’m sure you know, to sinners such as Zacchaeus. BEFORE Zac repented, Jesus went to his house for dinner, much to the frustration of many of His followers; and these were not even the Pharisees who would have condemned Jesus loudly!
Besides What A Friend We Have In Jesus, consider, “Jesus! What A Friend Of Sinners.”😉

  2. Actually, as I am sure you know,

Jesus is a friend also to sinners such as Zacchaeus. Even BEFORE Zac repented, Jesus invited Himself to dinner with the evil tax collector, much to the disgust of His followers. And these were not even the Pharisees who would have gone ballistic on Him.
Perhaps we should include “Jesus! What A Friend Of Sinners” in the repertoire?😉

  3. Lovely reminder for us all! It is amazing how God leaves us little “notes” from time to time to remind us that He is with us. For you it brought to mind a song and a verse. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, my friend!

  4. The Yellow Sticky Note with “God is a friend” is well intentioned. It’s a good reminder for Christians for sure. However, because of the plethora of gods in the world today the world needs to know that “Jesus is a friend” to those who belong to Him. The focus needs to be on Jesus. The lost need to have their attention directed to Jesus. For it is He alone that saves and it is He that is a friend that sticks closer than a brother for those who love Him. ✝️🕊
