Is Fendi Trendy?

Earlier yesterday evening, I was listening to a song where the soloist said, “I’ll dress you in Fendi.” All of a sudden, this jolt hit me that said, It’s not about designer clothes, but it’s about God’s divine design for your life!

Now my next question was, where do I go from here?

It seems to me the world would like us to portray ourselves as a bunch of mannequins dressed in designer clothes, with designer accessories, as if that is supposed to be some indication of who we are. Labels become identity. Brands become worth. The price tag quietly replaces purpose. Without even noticing it, we start measuring ourselves—and others—by appearances instead of substance. Is it not written For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart? (I Samuel 16:7 ESV)

But mannequins don’t live. They don’t grow, struggle, dream, or transform. They’re posed, polished, and empty. When we allow the world to dress us up with expectations, trends, and status symbols, we risk becoming just as hollow. We look successful, admired, and put together, yet inside, we’re disconnected from who we were actually created to be. (Matthew 23:27 ESV)

God’s design, on the other hand, is not something you can buy or wear. It’s something you live out. Divine design speaks to calling, character, and conviction. (2 Peter 1:10-11 ESV) It’s about being shaped from the inside out, not accessorized from the outside in. While fashion fades, purpose deepens. While trends change, truth remains.

So where do we go from here? Maybe the answer is inward before it’s outward. We pause and ask better questions: Who am I becoming? What am I living for? Who am I trying to impress? When we stop chasing approval through appearance, we create space to discover meaning through obedience, growth, and faith.

This doesn’t mean clothes or creativity don’t matter. They do—but they’re meant to express who you are, not replace it. When identity comes first, expression follows naturally. When purpose leads, presentation finds its proper place.

God’s divine design is intentional, personal, and layered. It includes your gifts, your story, your struggles, and even your imperfections. You weren’t designed to blend in on a rack or stand frozen in someone else’s vision of success. You were designed to move, to impact, and to reflect something far greater than a brand name.

So maybe the goal isn’t to be dressed in Fendi, but to be clothed in purpose. Not to be seen as valuable, but to live valuable. And once that shift happens, everything else—how we live, speak, and even dress—begins to line up with who we were truly designed to be.

Thank you so much for your continued readership and support. Until next week…Blessings and Peace! And don’t forget…Let your light shine!

  1. This was a wonderful, eye- opening post. Thank you so much for your words. This is something that bothers me in our culture- hyper focus on appearance rather than inner substance. It often makes me want to isolate because I feel I can’t relate to a lot of people. But that’s also prideful, so that’s not a healthy route either. I definitely desire to see more people living in their God- given purpose. And I hope God gives me a humble heart in connecting with others in love.
